We knew we would be shooting black and white for this look, and I didn’t even have to ask… Rivi went straight for the black lipstick. You can tell she’s done this before. This was the second look we shot that day; the first had been considerably softer. In between, she scooted away for a moment and came back with ink black lips smacking of cabaret.
Some models have the standard poses they rip through, and that’s one style. But Rivi seems to have a spiritual connection to modeling; for her it’s not a hobby, but a calling. At the risk of sounding cheesy, she tells a story with her body. I love collaborating with models who feel a deep bond to the craft of posing.
There’s something refreshing about shooting with black and white in mind, and there is just a different quality and depth to the images. Note to self: more black and white. One more note to self: More Rivi. I’m sure you’ll agree.
I love the vintage approach to this shoot. I can’t say I’m really a big fan of black and white movies, but black and white photography is the exception.
She is pretty, and even her outfit has a vintage style to it.
Thanks Geoff! Rivi was responsible for the styling on this look. She’s definitely mastered the 40s Hollywood starlet look.
Feels like I’m stepping back in time looking at these photos. A time I’d like to step into more often. Poses 7 and 10 have to be my favourites. Love her hair too.
Thank you! Glad you liked these… they were some of my faves from her shoot.
